Appointment

What to bring to your appointment?
  1. Your referral letter. A referral allows you to claim your rebate from Medicare. Referral from GP is valid for 12 months and a referral from specialist is valid for 3 months.
  2. Your Medicare card.
  3. X-ray, pathology results such as blood and urine test results, previous documentations related to your consultation. If you know where you had your blood test please inform us so that we can download the results prior to your appointment.
  4. If you are a new patient, you will need to complete Initial Visit Form. You can download the Initial Visit Form here and complete the form prior to your consultation. Completing the downloaded initial visit form prior to your appointment will ensure more time for your consultation. If you choose to complete the initial visit form in the waiting room, please arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time.
  5. A list of your medications.
What can I expect at my first consultation?

Your rheumatologist will assess your condition and may order additional investigation such as blood test or imaging. Your rheumatologist may prescribe treatment such as medication, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy or joint injection and schedule follow up plan.

How do I reschedule my appointment?

This practice has a phone call reminder system to remind new patients attending initial consultation and SMS reminder system to remind review patients. Please respond to the reminder system to avoid cancellation of appointment.

At least 24 hour notice is required for cancellation of scheduled appointment by calling the reception on 07 3423 7881. This will enable other patients on the waiting list to be seen sooner.
What is the cost of consultation?

This is a private billing medical practice. There is an initial consultation fee and subsequent review fee. Complicated case which extends beyond the standard consultation time will incur additional fee.

Medicare offers a rebate for initial consultation and review appointment, but Medicare provides no rebate for joint aspiration and/or injection. If you are registered with Medicare online we will be able to process the claim for you on the day through Medicare Easyclaim.

Pensioner concession card and Health care card holders are given a discount.
There is no gap to pay for Department of Veterans’ Affairs Gold Card holder and Australian Defence Force personnel covered by BUPA.
If you have queries regarding the fee, please feel free to discuss it with the practice.
